Fort Myers Symposium
By Mike Speidel
We have completed all but one of our 2010 Airfield Marking
Symposiums - the last is being held in
Ft. Myers, FL, on
November 8-10, 2010. If you haven't considered coming to an AMS, there's no time like the present.
It's kind of a big deal
AMS training focuses solely on airfield markings - specification writing, when to maintain, how to
apply, what to inspect, etc. The schedule is two half-days of classroom training about the best practices contained
in the Airfield Marking Handbook (each attendee receives a Handbook).
Following the classroom training, attendees are transported to the host airport to view demonstrations including
surface preparation and paint removal via a Stripe Hog waterblaster, Airmark preformed thermoplastic installation,
equipment calibration techniques and inspection practices.
Guest speaker, Cynthia Randazzo of Dow Chemical Group, a contributing author of the Airfield
Marking Handbook, will be discussing the recent waterborne shortage, in addition to marking technologies currently
available to airports.
This training is one of a kind and cannot be found anywhere else in the world! The comment we hear
after every symposium is "I had no idea there was this much to know about markings!" It's true; there's a lot to
know. Sightline's Airfield Marking Symposium pays for itself by sending its attendees home with a new understanding
of how to cultivate an effective marking system.
Can't make it this year?
If you can't be with us in 2010 - the AMS will return in 2011. We're proud to release the 2011 AMS
lineup, so get it in your budget now! Online registration will be available soon.
