The Biggest Little Conference was held in Reno, NV November 9-11, 2008. It was the first of its kind: an Airfield
Marking "Practicum", so dubbed by AAAE who sponsored the event. Sightline personnel conducted two half days of classroom
training/discussion followed by two half days of field training. The 37 attendees gained an understanding of the details involved
in installing markings on airfield pavements.
Reno/Tahoe International Airport management and staff graciously donated their maintenance personnel, their equipment,
and one of their runways for the event; and Mike Sels from Hydro Removal Services based in Reno accommodated the group with a
demonstration of the Stripe Hog, an ultrahigh pressure waterblasting unit that performed both surface preparation and paint removal.
Recommendations from the attendees included taking this show on the road to regional areas so that more airport and
contractor personnel from around the country can benefit from the workshop. In order to repeat the success we had at Reno-Tahoe
International, an airport willing to host the demonstrations is preferred. If you have suggestions for us to pursue,
